Weather Situation

A strong high pressure system to the southeast of the state extends a ridge across the south coast while a coastal trough lies off the Mid North Coast, bringing easterly winds to Sydney Waters. The trough will continue to move slowly towards the far north coast today and deepen into a low pressure system late Thursday or early Friday. This system will then move south towards the far south coast by late Friday, bringing fresh to strong easterly winds ahead of it on Friday before winds shift west to northwesterly over the weekend and early int he new week as the low moves offshore across the southern Tasman Sea as a series of cold fronts cross the state.
