Moderate Flood Warning for the Nicholson River

MODERATE FLOODING EASING AT BURKETOWN AIRSTRIP

River levels remain elevated across the Nicholson River catchment following recent heavy rainfall. River levels are slowly easing after a flood peak above the major flood level along the Albert River at Burketown Airstrip, lower than the flood peak experienced earlier this month.

Rainfall totals of up to 50 mm have been observed across the Nicholson and Leichhardt catchments in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Monday. Showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast to continue for the next few days, however widespread significant rainfall is not expected.

Nicholson and Gregory Rivers

Along the Nicholson River, river levels are slowly easing at Escott Station and at Burketown Airstrip with moderate flooding. Minor flooding has eased along the Gregory River at Gregory Downs.
