Flood Watch for parts of the Central Coast in NSW
Issued at 1:00 PM EST on Wednesday 21 May 2025.
A coastal trough off the Mid North Coast is bringing widespread rainfall and isolated thunderstorms resulting in minor to major flooding across parts of the Mid North Coast, Hunter and Central Coast catchments. Flood warnings are also current across parts of the Northern Rivers and Sydney catchments.
The trough is expected to deepen with a low pressure system forming off the Mid North Coast or Central Coast late Thursday or Friday, before moving south, which may cause further river level rises.
Catchments in the Flood Watch area are relatively wet.
Localised river level rises, and flash flooding are possible within the areas of heaviest rainfall.
Flood Classes (minor, moderate, major) are only defined for catchments where the Bureau provides a flood warning service. A severe weather warning is current for Mid North Coast and parts of the Northern Rivers, Northern Tablelands, Hunter and North West Slopes and Plains.
Catchments likely to be affected include:
Newcastle Area | |
Lake Macquarie | minor flooding |
Minor to major flood warnings are current in the following catchments: Northern Rivers (Orara), Mid North Coast (Coffs Coast, Bellinger, Nambucca, Macleay, Hastings, Camden Haven, Manning and Gloucester, Myall, Wallis Lake) Hunter and Central Coast (Hunter and Wollombi Brook, Paterson and Williams, Tuggerah Lake), Sydney catchments (Hawkesbury Nepean).
