Maximum temperatures in the mid to high thirties and overnight minimum temperatures in the low twenties. The severe to extreme heatwave will ease Saturday night and Sunday as a southwest to southeasterly change brings milder temperatures. Locations likely to be impacted include Canberra, Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong and Woden Valley.

- Extreme heatwaves can be dangerous for everyone.
- Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
- Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
- If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
