Damaging winds and hailstones have caused damage across Adelaide overnight, with trees blocking roads and falling onto vehicles.
More than 100 calls for help have been received by the State Emergency Service since yesterday afternoon, with 80 per cent of reports due to fallen trees.
Vale Park resident Niall Dowdell had returned home after a trip to the Barossa to celebrate his wedding anniversary when the storm blew through.
"It just came through pretty rapidly," he said.
When he went outside to move his car to safety, he saw a large tree had fallen onto the front of his car.
"We heard a bit of thunder and then the rain just came in really heavy, and then within a couple of minutes I've come out and the tree's down on my car," Mr Dowdell said.
"I think maybe a lightning strike has hit the tree."
Several storms crossed South Australia and metropolitan Adelaide yesterday afternoon, mostly clearing by 9pm.
The SES reported 3 centimetres of hailstones fell at Happy Valley at 7:45pm.
SES duty officer Ian Bonython said the majority of call-outs were in Adelaide's north, and had largely ended by nightfall.
Multiple reports of fallen trees occurred across Adelaide's inner north-east from Payneham towards Paradise.
The Bureau of Meteorology said storm activity would continue across South Australia today.
"Still seeing a lot of cloud, showers and certainly still some rumbles of thunder but we will continue to see it contract into north-eastern parts of the state today," senior forecaster Urshla Connor said.
