MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT YATTON (ISAAC RIVER) AND EXPECTED TO PEAK FROM WEDNESDAY MORNING
MAJOR FLOODING LIKELY AT TARTRUS (MACKENZIE RIVER) FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE ALONG FITZROY RIVER AT YAAMBA (FROM AS EARLY AS SATURDAY EVENING) AND ROCKHAMPTON (FROM AS EARLY AS NEXT MONDAY) AS MACKENZIE RIVER FLOWS ARRIVE
Moderate to heavy rainfall across the Fitzroy River Catchment from early Sunday has resulted in rapid river and creek level rises throughout the Connors, Isaac, and Mackenzie River catchments, as well as the Theresa Creek catchment.
A flood peak is approaching the Isaac River at Yatton, where major flooding is occurring and is expected to peak from Wednesday morning. As this peak continues downstream, major flooding is likely to develop along the Mackenzie River at Tartrus from Wednesday afternoon.
Along the Fitzroy River, minor flooding is expected to be occurring at Yaamba in response to local rainfall. At Rockhampton, small river level rises are occurring. After this initial response to local rainfall, further river level rises are expected later in the week as flows arrive from the Mackenzie River. Minor flooding is possible at Yaamba from as early as Friday and at Rockhampton from as early as Sunday afternoon. Moderate flooding is possible at Yaamba from as early as Saturday evening and at Rockhampton from as early as next Monday. Forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast across most of the catchment for the next few days, which may cause river level rises in southern and western parts of the catchment, but are not expected to significantly impact river levels in the Fitzroy River at this stage.
A Flood Watch is current for the Comet, Nogoa, Dawson, and Don River catchments.
Nogoa River
Major flooding is occurring along Theresa Creek at Valeria. Levels are approaching the minor flood level along Theresa Creek at the Gregory Highway.
Connors and Isaac Rivers
Mackenzie River
Moderate flooding is occurring at Coolmaringa. Minor flooding is occurring at Bingegang.
