A strong cold front is crossing Bass Strait during today, with a vigorous northwesterly airstream shifting west to southwesterly into the afternoon and evening. Winds will ease on Wednesday as the next high pressure system approaches from the west, with the high extending a ridge across Bass Strait on Thursday and Friday as it moves to the southwest of Tasmania.
