Weather Situation

A deep low pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is bringing large and powerful waves along the New South Wales coast. Winds and waves are expected to ease gradually today, with winds turning westerly as the low weakens while a high pressure ridge over the inland shifts to northern New South Wales into the northern Tasman Sea. Then a cold front and its associated trough looks set to cross the coastal waters on Friday, bringing a return to fresh southwesterly airstream to Sydney Waters in the wake, then this front will be followed by another high pressure system moving across the state through the weekend into early new week.
