More than 1,000 residents remain without power in Perth after wild storms on Friday night — and there is more wet weather on the way.

Perth and much of WA's south-west copped a drenching overnight, leaving 15,000 people without power at the height of the storms.

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) said the metropolitan area recorded around 15mm of rain from 10:30pm, with the heaviest falls just before midnight.

Bickley in Perth's east experienced the heaviest downpour — just shy of 100mm of rain falling in the last 36 hours.

The BOM said more showers are expected in Perth today, but the storm's intensity would ease throughout the afternoon.

However, the rain is set to return tomorrow, with Perth expected to receive between 5mm and 10mm of rain.

A Western Power spokesperson said the number of residents without power peaked last night, after damaging winds blew down trees on to the network in the City of Swan.

The number of residents without power has since dropped to 1,700.

"We have extra crews and equipment available across the network to respond to any hazards related to powerful winds and heavy rain hitting parts of the network," the spokesman said.

Western Power will also continue to work alongside the Department of Fire and Emergency Services in the Great Southern, to reach areas affected by fire in and around the Albany region.

"This will allow us to assess what, if any, damage has been done to the network in those areas."

Western Power said the total fire ban in the Great Southern was causing some delays in restoring power to customers impacted by storm and fire outages in the area.
