Heavy rain has fallen across Tasmania's north-east, with more than 90 millimetres recorded at Gray.

Predicted flash flooding has not eventuated but dangerous flows are still expected through the South Esk catchment in the coming days.

The State Emergency Service said there had been only one callout for assistance due to wind damage.

The SES said no rivers were flooding and warnings remained in place for damaging winds and heavy rainfall on the east coast, Furneaux Islands and north-east.

The Bureau of Meteorology's David House said the town of St Helens had also been hit hard by rain.

The SES's Mhairi Bradley warned conditions could be dangerous particularly for road users who needed to beware of debris and water.

Wind gusts in excess of 100kph were predicted in the north-east and northern coast area.

She also warned people not to put themselves at risk

"Road users are reminded to drive to the conditions, wind debris poses a serious threat to public safety," she said.
