Floriade has been closed for the second day in a row due to heavy rain in Canberra, while Corin Forest has received 10 centimetres of snow overnight.

The annual flower festival was closed yesterday, and again today, after heavy rain on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

While entry is free of charge during the day, organisers said ticket holders to the night time event, NightFest, would get a refund or passes for another date.

The closure comes as Canberra looks set to break the 38-year September rainfall record.

The record, set in 1978, is 150.6 millimetres.

By 7:00am Canberra had already received 147.2mm.

It follows the third wettest winter on record for the national capital.

South of Canberra, Corin Forest saw 10cm of snow fall overnight.

Corin Dam Road, leading to the resort, remains open, but Corin Forest warned their followers on Facebook to drive with care in the wet and slippery conditions.

To the north of Canberra in New South Wales, the State Emergency Service (SES) said flooding of Yass River had closed the Shingle Hill Way causeway at Gundaroo.

Other nearby low-lying roads and crossings like Booths Crossing and Buckmasters Bridge are also expected to go under today.

Sutton Unit operations officer Michael Holmes was warning motorists not to enter floodwaters and to take care.

"Glengyle Creek near Murrumbateman Road is suspected that may come across the road some time today with the inflows that are going into it," he said.

"We are expecting up to 25mm of rain possibly over the course of the day.

"We have a lot of technicians out west so it may take some time to get to you if you get stranded, so please don't drive through floodwaters."
