The South Burnett Council says crews have been working around the clock to clear debris after a series of storm cells hit the area in southern Queensland.

Three large storm cells have torn through the region in the past four days, with the brunt of the damage affecting an area west of Wondai and Blackbutt on Monday night.

The council said debris and soil is flowing into the Barambah Creek, making the water extremely dirty.

It said the town water was safe to drink, despite some discolouration.

Meanwhile, farmers are still assessing the damage after it took almost two days for Ergon to restore power to residents in isolated parts of Nanango and Wondai.

South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzman said residents with water, power or damage concerns should contact council.

He said it could take several weeks to clean up the damage.

"Most areas have had some sort of damage, at the moment a lot of trees over the road and some real issues and certainly lots of power outages caused some concern for people, particularly in the Nanango area," he said.
